About the position.
As a steel fixer, you process steel and iron into structural components for construction, infrastructure or industry. You cut, bend and weld steel sections and reinforcing steel to size and prepare them for assembly. Reading working drawings accurately and working independently are part of your daily routine.
What will you be doing?
- Cutting, bending and welding steel sections and structural components
- Processing and bending reinforcing steel for concrete structures
- Assembling prefabricated steel structures in the prefab hall
- Checking dimensions and welds for conformity with the drawing
- Preparing and supplying materials for the assembly crew
- Working safely with grinders, cutting torches and welding equipment
What we ask of you.
- MBO level 2 in Ironwork, Structural Engineering or practical experience as a steel fixer
- Experience processing structural steel and/or reinforcing steel
- Basic welding skills in MIG/MAG or MAG welding
- Able to read simple structural drawings
- Physically fit and safety-conscious (VCA is an advantage)
