Sometimes you’ve already found the right craftsman. Someone from your network, a seasonal worker who comes back every year, a student through a contact. You want to employ them without becoming the employer yourself. That’s what payroll is for: FlexHero becomes the legal employer, whilst you retain control over management and duration.

What you do.

  • Recruit craftsmen yourself (via your network, adverts, etc.)
  • Submit hours worked weekly via the portal
  • Managing staff on the shop floor
  • Decide when to renew or terminate a contract

What does it cost?

A fixed payroll rate of 1.55–1.75 times the gross hourly wage (depending on the sector’s risk profile). Example: craftsman €18/hour gross → invoice €28–32/hour all-in. No recruitment fee (you found them), no extra service charges.

Comparable to traditional temporary staffing in terms of rates, but without the recruitment and sourcing costs.

When is this suitable?

  • You have found a craftsman yourself (family, network, advertisement, returning seasonal worker)
  • You don’t want the administrative burden or risks of being an employer
  • International: craftsman from the EU whom you can hire but cannot hire yourself (work permit, BSN, etc.)

Frequently asked questions.

What if the craftsman falls ill?

We bear the risk. For the first 2 years, we continue to pay up to 70% in accordance with the collective labour agreement. No costs for the client company on top of the normal hourly rate.

What about notice periods?

Contracts are always of an indefinite term. Notice periods in accordance with the client company’s collective labour agreement: in principle, one month for the employee, increasing with length of service for the employer.

Can I hire the craftsman directly myself?

Yes. After 1,040 hours worked (~26 weeks full-time): no transfer fee. Before that: a decreasing fee.

Do you also offer payroll services for self-employed professionals?

Not for self-employed arrangements — we cannot take responsibility for these due to tax risks. For self-employed secondment, we refer you to specialist providers.

How are payroll taxes paid?

FlexHero pays directly to HM Revenue & Customs. We have a G-account into which you can pay if you wish — this gives you full indemnity regarding chain liability.
