Blaster / Sandblaster

About the position.

As a blaster, you treat metal surfaces by means of sandblasting, shot blasting or other abrasive techniques to remove rust, old coatings or contaminants. You prepare surfaces for painting, coating or thermal spraying and work to the specified surface grade (Sa class). Working with compressed-air equipment and protective gear is part of your daily routine.

What will you be doing?

• Carrying out sandblasting and shot blasting work on steel and metal
• Assessing surface grade in accordance with ISO 8501-1 (Sa 2½ or Sa 3)
• Setting up and operating blasting machines and blasting booths
• Checking blasting abrasive for quality and composition
• Masking surfaces that must not be treated
• Complying with safety regulations for dust, noise and compressed air

What we ask of you.

• Proven experience as a blaster or in surface treatment in the metal industry
• Knowledge of ISO 8501-1 surface grades and blasting techniques
• Used to wearing personal protective equipment (helmet, suit, hearing protection)
• Physically fit and willing to work in dusty and noisy environments
• VCA Basis certificate is an advantage
