About the position.
As Safety Specialist, you advise management and the shop floor on controlling safety risks. You carry out risk assessments, investigate incidents and ensure the organisation continues to comply with the Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) and related legislation. You are a recognised adviser who speaks up, whether asked or not, whenever safety is at stake.
What will you be doing?
- Carrying out risk inventories and evaluations (RI&E) and drawing up the associated action plans
- Investigating incidents and near misses and reporting on causes and improvement measures
- Advising management and supervisors on occupational health and safety policy, safety procedures and personal protective equipment
- Supervising toolbox meetings, safety inspections and audits on the shop floor
- Keeping up to date with legislation and regulations on working conditions and translating them into practical measures
- Working with the company doctor, occupational health service and external bodies such as the Inspectorate SZW
What we ask of you.
- Diploma in Intermediate Safety Science (MVK) or Higher Safety Science (HVK); HVK is preferred
- At least 3 years' work experience as a safety specialist in an industrial or technical environment
- Knowledge of the Working Conditions Act (Arbowet), the Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit) and relevant NEN standards for the sector concerned
- Ability to take a clear position and influence decisions at management level
- Practical mindset: you are regularly present on the shop floor and not just behind a desk
