Glossary — Industry jargon explained

A

ABU Trade Association

The General Association of Temporary Employment Agencies — trade association for staffing agencies. ABU members adhere to the collective labour agreement for temporary workers. FlexHero is an ABU member.

GDPR Privacy

General Data Protection Regulation — the European privacy law (GDPR). Regulates how we process the personal data of craftsmen and clients.

B

BSN Identity

Citizen Service Number — a unique personal identification number in the Netherlands, required for the payment of wages. Foreign craftsmen obtain this via the RNI.

C

Collective Labour Agreement

Collective Labour Agreement — agreements between employers and trade unions regarding pay, working hours, holiday allowance and allowances. For temporary workers, the client company’s collective labour agreement or the client company’s collective labour agreement applies.

CV Recruitment

Curriculum Vitae — an overview of work experience, education and qualifications. Our CV tool helps you create a professional CV in 5 minutes.

D

Secondment Service Type

A form of temporary work where the craftsman works for a single client company for an extended period, employed by FlexHero. Often involves a training or career development programme.

F

Phase A/B/C Contract · historical

FlexHero no longer uses the old temporary employment phase system (Phase A → B → C). Every employee immediately signs an employment contract with an indefinite term and a fixed number of hours in accordance with the client company’s collective labour agreement. G

G-account Financial

A blocked bank account into which client companies pay the wage portion of the invoice. This indemnifies the hiring company against chain liability and hiring company liability.

I

Hiring Company

The client company for whom the craftsman actually works and under whose supervision he/she is — whilst the employment contract is held by FlexHero.

K

Chain liability Compliance

Legal liability of client companies for unpaid payroll tax or VAT by staffing companies in the chain. SNA certification and a G-account reduce this risk.

N

NEN 4400-1 Certification

Dutch standard for temporary employment agencies that guarantees an agency complies with its tax and employment law obligations. FlexHero is NEN 4400-1 certified.

O

ORT Wage

Irregular hours allowance — a supplement on top of the gross wage for working at unusual times (evenings, nights, weekends). Percentages are determined by the collective labour agreement.

P

Payroll Service Type

Option where the client company handles recruitment and selection themselves, but FlexHero takes on the legal responsibility of the employer (contract, payroll administration, absence management).

R

RNI Identity

Register of Non-Residents — for people who work in the Netherlands but do not live there. This is where you apply for a BSN.

S

SNA Certification

Stichting Normering Arbeid — manages the NEN 4400-1 quality mark and the register of certified staffing agencies.

SNF Certification

Stichting Normering Flexwonen — quality mark for housing for labour migrants. Sets requirements for space, hygiene, safety and privacy. All our locations are SNF-certified.

U

Temporary Work Service Type

Flexible deployment via a staffing agency, whereby the craftsman is employed by the agency (FlexHero) and works under the supervision of the hiring company.

Timesheet Administration

Weekly overview of hours worked, to be completed by the craftsman and approved by the hiring company. Basis for payment and invoicing.

V

Holiday Allowance

Mandatory allowance of 8.33% on top of the gross wage, to be paid annually (usually in May). Shown on the payslip as a provision.

VCA Safety

Safety, Health and Environment Checklist for Contractors — mandatory certificate for working in industry/construction. VCA-Basis for operational staff, VCA-VOL for managers.

W

Waiting Days for Sickness

First 1–2 days of sick leave for which no pay is provided (as per the collective agreement). From day 3 onwards, 91% of pay is continued in accordance with the client company’s collective agreement.

Z

ZZP Service Type

Self-employed without staff — a freelancer/entrepreneur working on their own account. FlexHero arranges ZZP assignments with suitable contracts and G-account arrangements.
