About the position.

As a Conventional Turner, you machine metal parts on manually operated lathes, from one-off pieces to small batches. You work to size and quality without a CNC program showing you the way. Craftsmanship, measuring experience and a feel for the material determine the end result.

What will you be doing?

• Setting up and operating conventional lathes for rotational parts
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and dimensional tolerances
• Selecting cutting tools and setting speed and feed
• Measuring and checking operations with callipers, micrometers and inspection tools
• Carrying out finishing operations such as deburring, parting off and internal turning
• Identifying deviations in material or drawings and reporting them back to the issuing department

What we ask of you.

• MBO 2 or MBO 3 in machining or mechanical processing
• Practical experience with conventional lathes in a metalworking company
• Skilled in using measuring tools (callipers, micrometers, plug gauges)
• Able to work to tight tolerances (IT7 and tighter)
• Independent and meticulous, with a good feel for quality and material behaviour
