About the position.
As a Conventional Miller, you work with manually operated milling machines on one-off parts and repair components for which CNC is not the right route. You do your own set-ups, monitor dimensions and deliver products that fit. Working by feel and craft knowledge is central here.
What will you be doing?
- Setting up and operating conventional milling machines (bed and column mills)
- Clamping workpieces using clamps, vices or indexing heads
- Milling faces, slots, shoulders and contours based on technical drawings
- Checking dimensions with hand measuring tools during and after machining
- Carrying out drilling and reaming operations on the milling machine
- Planning the machining sequence and clamping to minimise changeover time
What we ask of you.
- MBO 2 or MBO 3 qualification in machining or an equivalent vocational qualification
- Hands-on experience with conventional milling in a metal workshop or toolroom
- Able to read technical drawings well, including views and tolerances
- Skilled with measuring tools for dimensional checks during production
- Accurate and safety-conscious when handling rotating tools
