About the position.
As a Toolmaker, you make and maintain cutting tools, moulds and measuring equipment that other machinists use every day. You work to extremely tight tolerances and combine conventional and CNC techniques. Precision and an overview of the entire manufacturing process come naturally to you.
What will you be doing?
- Manufacturing cutting tools, moulds, clamps and special measuring equipment
- Grinding tools on grinding machines (surface, cylindrical and profile grinding)
- Matching hardening treatment to the material type and application (in consultation with the supplier or internally)
- Overhauling and repairing worn or damaged tools and dies
- Measuring and documenting completed work with precision measuring instruments
- Advising production on tool selection and extending tool life
What we ask of you.
- MBO 3 or MBO 4 qualification in toolmaking or machining
- Extensive experience in a toolroom or machining company with comparable products
- Skilled on both conventional and CNC machines (turning, milling, grinding)
- Knowledge of tool steels, hardening processes and wear patterns
- A high degree of independence and accuracy in one-off and bespoke work
